Year 6 Leavers Assembly

It was all about memories, their memories over the years!  Everyone took part, from writing the script, to acting, performing and singing together.  The audience, made up of Mums, Dads and close friends, really appreciated the performance.  For some parents it was the end of an era- all their children had had the Chadderton Hall experience and were doing extremely well in high school or university.  Although there were some tears at the Leavers Assembly, from the audience, the pupils were exuberant!  It’s evident the Year 6 pupils are more than ready to meet the exciting challenges that lie ahead.  We wish them all lots and lots of luck for the future.

Year 5

Year 5 had a lovely time at Radclyffe school on Wednesday afternoon.  The cheesecake that was made by Louis, Grace and Max looked delicious!

Year 6L

Our Latin Dancers from 6L performed at Oldham Coliseum on Tuesday afternoon.  They said it was great fun performing on a real stage!

To parents

Finally an end of year thank you for all your support.  We couldn’t function without it.  Watch out next year for more ways to be involved with school.  If you want to be part of this please contact Mrs Carroll in the office.  We also welcome back Mrs Booth from maternity leave.

Well Done!

Robinwood 2010

Everyone had a wonderful time.  The staff at Robinwood were really impressed by our pupils’ tenacity.  Our own staff enjoyed the weekend very much.  I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the pupils and staff for making the weekend activity such a success.  Our current Year 5’s can’t wait to go to Robinwood!

Open Parent’s Evening 2010

We had lots of parents visiting the school on Tuesday.  Children were showing their parents where to look and where to visit in their classroom.  We had a lot of positive feedback on the new report format.

Sports Day 2010

It was a great success.  I think we’ve got quite a lot of budding athletes.  It was so good to see the children being competitive but also having fun.  The sports leaders did a great job setting the equipment out for the different events.

Leavers Party 2010

It started with squeals from a pink limo!   What a fun and fabulous way to arrive at a party!  The Year 6 leavers had a great time at their party.  The limbo dancing was terrific although Mrs Kershaw’s back was a bit sore the day after.  Perhaps more training is needed!  We all enjoyed the buffet and the music.

Drama 2010 – The Mystery of the Missing Mask

A special performance of this drama is on Monday 12th July at 2pm (not 2.30pm as previously stated) at North Chadderton High School.  Our pupils taking part have parental consent and the details of their rehearsals and what costumes to wear! (All black remember).

Design & Technology

Our Design and Technology week’s theme has been ‘All the fun of the fair’.  Each class has made a fairground ride; from the design to the make and use stage.  It’s been a fun week.

Bonjour and Au revoir

Madame Ollier has spent the week in school.  She is a teacher in a school in France.  During the week she has worked in classrooms, held conversations with groups of pupils and has taken part in singing songs. It’s been lovely having her in school.

Grease is the Word

The Year 5 children were invited to the preview of Grease at the Radclyffe School.  Several of our former pupils were involved in the lively production.  Our children and staff thoroughly enjoyed it.  Well done Radclyffe!

Dinner Money

As it is the last week of term please can all dinner money be brought in on Monday so it can be banked next week.

Robinwood 2010

The Year 6 pupils and staff set off for their Activity Weekend at the Robinwood Centre.  We had lots of waves but no tears!

They have arrived safely and all of them are enjoying the first of their many activities.  We hope they enjoy their stay.  We’ll see them bright eyed and bushy tailed on Monday morning.

The other Year 6 pupils who chose not to go to Robinwood will be taking part in an Oldham Orienteering Festival at Alexandra Park.  Lots of different Oldham schools are taking part.

Parentmail

We are ready to go live with Parentmail in September.  If you have not returned the form with your details please do so in the next week so you don’t miss out!

Lost Property

We have a lot of lost property in school.  This will be left in the hall on Tuesday 6th July from 3.25pm.  Please feel free to look for any items that have been lost this year.

Any unclaimed items will be recycled at the end of the week.

Sports Day 5th July

Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school so they can take part.  You might like to come dressed for the event too!  There might just be a race to suit you.

For Monday (5th July) we need some:

  • Large, long sleeved shirts,
  • Wellingtons
  • Old high heeled shoes
  • Hats – large and floppy are the best!!

Open Afternoon 6th July

From 3pm to 5.30pm the school and classrooms will be open for you to look around.  The pupils have some lovely work on display and in their books and folders.  Come and see their work and let them explain to you what they have learned.

Year 3 – France and their bumpy landing

Year 4 – Habitats

Year 5 – The World Cup – no tears now

Year 6 – Rainforests

The pupils really enjoyed working co-operatively and collaboratively on their topics.  A big thank you to you for your help at home through the internet and studywiz.

Drama Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be held on July 8th and 9th for ‘The Mystery of the Missing Mask’.  Miss Hughes has been working with the pupils for several weeks now.  The performance at North Chadderton is the end result.  Please support your child if you can.  The performance starts at 2.30pm on 12th July.

Moving Up Morning (MUM)

It was a great morning.  The Year 2’s were especially sensible.  Our pupils were great too!  2010-2011 looks like being a fantastic year.

Goodbye

We say ‘goodbye’ to two members of staff, Mrs Turner, who is retiring and Mrs Rowlinson who will be starting a new job closer to her home and family.  We will miss them, but wish them ‘Good Luck’ for the future and thank them for their many contributions to Chadderton Hall Junior School.

Next Monday’s netball has been cancelled.  Netball practice will resume in the new school year.  Look out for details in future newsletters.

It is important that any outstanding dinner money is paid before the end of the school year.  If you wish to pay up to the end of term the amount is £17.50 for 2 weeks.  Please make cheques payable to ‘Oldham Council’.

The cost of dinner money will increase in September to £1.80 a day, £9 per week.  School dinners are really, really delicious, especially hot pudding days!
